What information do we collect?
We collect three types of information from visitors to clearingtheairscotland.com: registration details for email updates, information from server log files, and details of people wishing to publicly demonstrate support for the Smoking Health and Social Care (Scotland) Bill. We do not retain any information submitted through email-a-friend.
Lend your support
If you opt to add your name to supporters of the Bill you will be asked to confirm your details via e-mail. Only your name as an individual, or a company's name, will be displayed on the website. E-mail addresses will not be displayed.
Email updates
If you opt to register for email updates from clearingtheairscotland.com, the registration information we collect is: your title, your name, your email address and area of interest.
A copy of this information is kept securely by our technology supplier, Whitespace and will be held until such time you unsubscribe or inform Clearing the Air Scotland otherwise. This information is stored to allow us to send information about Clearing the Air Scotland that may be of interest to you and will not be shared with any other party. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.
Server log files
Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the website. Lumison, the ISP (Internet Service Provider) hosting this website, puts together log file information from site visitors which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around and interact with it. Log files do not contain any personal information.
Email-a-friend
The recipient will receive an email from the address you entered in "your email address" and a URL linking to the story. None of the details you submit will be retained by the Scottish Executive.
